Air Doll Movie Guide

The air doll gets a heart and explores the world of humans. She experiences the joys and sorrows of the real world, and finally, she finds that the real world has other air dolls like her. Air dolls had no thoughts or hearts, and there are so many real people acting just like air dolls in our modern society.

One of the outstanding features of the movie is the background music. The choice of background music provides a certain degree of “expression to a movie”. Beginning with soothing and slow music, the background music of this movie subtly painted the characters in the movie in a tragic light. The attention to detail in this movie as well as the plot twists and intertwined storylines makes to a compact movie.

New life meets the real world.

In this movie, there are characters from all walks of life: down to earth waiters, responsible fathers, focused on their children, overweight girls with eating disorders, middle-aged women scared of aging, people who are addicted to watching crime news, and finally the owner of the DVD store and his helpers. The helpers are the so-called “Air doll” in the movie. There is a bald old man who used to be a teacher. He plays the role of a pessimistic bystander as well as a critic of life. Xiaowang, the main character, was a full-hearted person before he lost his lover. After the death of his lover, his heart became empty. The only person with a full heart in the movie was the woman who says “hard work.”
The movie starts with the main owner and a waiter at a restaurant. In the conversation with the air doll after the owner returns home, it is revealed that he has had a special emotional connection.

The next day, Xiao Wang had turned into a real person. She got up and there was a lot of foreshadowing. The first thing we noticed was the lines in her body, emphasized on the screen. Later in the movie, Xiao Wang thought that because of her lines, the old women who wore stockings with lines were also air dolls. Sheh also used some foundation to cover the lines. The transparency of her shadow was the second foreshadowing in the movie.

During a scene where Xiao Wang took a walk with the DVD store helper, Chun Yi, her shadow was transparent and Chun Yi’s shadow was real. This way, the audience could tell that Chun Yi was human. Xiaowang Was happy to think that Chun Yi was also an air doll. Chun Yi had said the same thing as the old man: “I am empty and empty.” Shew of course meant spiritual emptiness, but Xiao Wang interpreted her words to mean something else.

When she woke up in the morning, Xiao Wang touched the morning dew and bathed in the light of dawn. She got dressed and went out. Xiao Wang had only just arrived in the real world and she was as pure, kind, and gentle as a baby. She held hands with a little girl and the little girl playfully remarked that her hand was cold. She played with the children, but the parents thought she was crazy. Xiao Wang was so pure, that she could not understand why she was being left out. She walked towards the DVD store and the lights and cheerful music pulled her in.

The characters all had their personal battles, a woman, so scared of aging, she had no confidence competing with younger girls in the workplace. A young man, so addicted to masturbation, he became a peeping tom. Another woman was on a diet, but she soon gave up and began to overeat again.

Once she got her heart, Xiao Wang began to change. She learned to lie. When she has sex with her host, she begins to feel. This was best illustrated in the dialogue Xiao Wang had with Chun Yi while cleaning the disks. “You may not be able to see the dust on the disc, but it’s there.”

This statement illustrates how Xiaowang’s heart was not visible, but it was there. In a later scene when Xiao Wang went to the beach with Chun Yi, he explained to her what it meant to grow old. Ashe described it as a slow change that gradually leads people to the end of their lives. The significance of this dialogue was made clear later in the plot.

In another scene, both girls went to a little girl’s birthday. The little girl, Meng, was the daughter of a father who was focused on his child. At the birthday party, Xiaowangwatched the father shower so much love and attention on his little girl, she was moved to envy. She began to imagine her own birthday. This scene shows Xiao Wang craved love and care. On her way back, she saw a withered dandelion, a tiny detail with a deep meaning.

In a later scene, while cleaning, Xiaowang Found the carton that contained her originally. She realized her name was Katie. She began to wonder why the male host called her Xiaowang. This scene sets up the suspense for a big reveal in a later scene. The next day, while discussing with the bald-headed old man, he told Xiao Wang that everyone was empty, especially everyone living in the city. This clarified the main point of the movie. The hearts of most people in modern society are barren.

Xiao Wang replied. : “Life may not be fulfilled by its own power. Life learns to cherish through lack and is only complete by the existence of the other. Take a flower for instance, even if the stamen and pistil are not enough, a visit from insects and the wind, and life still finds a way.“ This interpretation adds a bit of color to the plot of the movie.

In one scene, Xiao Wang scratches her body at work. This deep and twisted plot showed Chun Yi’s realization that Xiao Wang is a sir doll. Rather than react with fright and run away, he calmly blows Xiao Wang up again.

The scars on her body became a second outlet for Xiao Wang and a way for her to end it all. He referred to Xiaowangas as “it”. She felt sad that her time with him would end so badly.

The next day, Xiao Wang was still hiding in the storage room. She could hear her host celebrating, and her curiosity got the better of her. She walked out of the storage room to find that he had gotten another realistic sex doll. The host came out of the bathroom to find Xiaowang. She told him she had a heart. He was surprised. He asked why, but she did not know. She asked him what he liked about her, and he couldn’t say. She asked why he called her Xiaowang, was it his ex-girlfriend’s name?. He was shocked and accused her of spying on his blog. She realized she was a substitute for his ex-girlfriend. He asked her to be an ordinary lifelike sex doll. He told her for him, it was too much trouble.

This dialogue explained the strange relationship between Xiao Wang and the male host. It also explained the norm in modern society. There are many people who have lost loved ones.

When Xiaowang Was about to leave, the owner asked her if all she saw in the real world was sad or if she found any good in the real world. She nodded. He smiled and replied that’s good.

In another scene, Chun Yi invited Xiao Wang to his house a second time. While they were in the car, she told him she did not care who the substitute was. He told her she was not a substitute for anyone. He told her she was the only one he could talk to about things he could talk to no one else about.

In the subsequent sex scene, Chun Yi noticed that Xiao Wang was beginning to deflate painfully, but he did not stop. He continued with his perverted act until he was satisfied. The plot of the movie is a tragic one with diversified messages. It leaves room for the audience to interpret deeper meanings. It addresses the spiritual emptiness and status of the modern people and rationale with regard to life.
